Bonshaw Breezes awarded two more Rural Beautification Society Awards
On October 21st 2009 at the annual Rural Beautification Society Awards, Bonshaw Breezes B&B was awarded two more Rural Beautification Awards. In addition to their 2nd place standing in the Tourism category in 2008 they were recognized with both a 2nd place in Commercial Garden and 1st place in Tourism this year.
The Prince Edward Island Rural Beautification Society was established in 1946 and incorporated in 1947. By means of annual competitions, it has pursued several objectives. First and foremost an increased interest in the care and improvement of rural homes and communities, an appreciation of rural life among young people through more attractive rural surroundings and finally a better community spirit by cooperative efforts on community projects.
Sharon and Dave Moore became islanders by choice in the fall of 2004. They now own and operate the 4.5 star, multiple award winning, Bonshaw Breezes Bed and Breakfast. In the spring of 2008 they were presented the 2008 Inaugural Brand Essence Award for Tourism PEI and have just recently captured an award from the Rural Beautification Society.
A Provincial Tourist Accommodation Improvement Award for the enhancements that they have made to their beautiful property over the last four years was presented to the Moores, at the annual Rural Beautification Awards Dinner on October the 22nd. Striking signage, natural clay waterfalls, whimsical garden adornments, natural stone walkways, stunning gardens, native tree plantings , as well as constant meticulous grounds maintenance, have made what was only four years ago a stark landscape into a breathtaking property. Add to this the panoramic view of the bucolic, rolling hills of Bonshaw, which they enjoy every day from their establishment and you have the makings for an award winning property that depicts “the care and improvement of rural homes and communities”.
Sharon and Dave also epitomize “community spirit by cooperative efforts on community projects” in their work with the many associations in which they are members. The Rural Beautification Society, PEIBWA, TIAPEI, Bed & Breakfast and Country Inns Association of Prince Edward Island, SSTG, South Shore Chamber of Commerce, St. John’s Anglican Church (Crapaud), QTS, Golf PEI, Crapaud Curling Club, Bonshaw WI, Bonshaw Hall Co-operative, Bonshaw Garden Club and more.
Despite their busy involvement in the community, Dave’s full time employment at Master Packaging in Borden Carleton and their hectic B&B schedule, Sharon and Dave have even more plans in store for the next phase of enhancements to their beautiful property next spring. In the meantime they anxiously anticipate the arrival of spring to view the profusion of flowers from the hundreds of fall bulbs they recently planted.
